The tropical season started early this year with Tropical Storm Ana. There has been only one earlier named system on record...The earliest ON RECORD was the No Name Hurricane March 7, 1908. The earliest TO STRIKE the U.S. was ALMA June 9 1966 in Northwest Florida. Ana is now just a memory for the books as it got absorbed quickly into a cold core weather system in the Atlantic.
