Variety - Marketing wizards may emphasize the surface similarities between the "Harry Potter" franchise and "Five Children and It." But latter pic skews toward a more limited demographic --- specifically, moppets and grade-schoolers --- which probably will crimp its B.O. potential. An unabashedly retro kidpic fantasy that recalls Disney product of the 1970s, Jim Henson Co. production is sufficiently appealing to be a mid-range theatrical performer --- pic has opened in Scotland and the rest of U.K. --- but won't conjure up big bucks until it appears in homevid outlets.
