Butain Spud-gun Fuels

Butane Fuels

Ok we all know that butane is a great fuel for spud guns but there isn’t a very easy way to get it into your gun. Well I have found 2 ways to get it into your gun.

First Way

Materials
A can of butane for refiling your lighters (I used Maquarie Butane Fuel Refill)

An empty or full can of aerosol. (I used LYNX deodorant)

Process
First get your can of aerosol deodorant and pop the plastic thing off the top. To do this you will have to. Get your deodorant


Then push the sprayer button thing down but on an angle so the spray doesn’t come out.


Now put your finger in that little gap that is formed and lever the thing off

Now your aerosol can will look like this


And the thing that pops off looks like this

Now get your can of butane and get the roll of nozzles.


Now put one of the smaller nozzles on the can of butane. (Don’t cut it off the roll until you know it’s the correct size.)


Now put the sprayer thing off the deodorant on top of the nozzle which is on the butane.


Walla! Now it’s just like a normal can of aerosol butane instead of having to put the butane into a lighter it works just like a normal aerosol can! Also you find the right nozzle by just testing it out. If you get the wrong nozzle size it will just spray from under the sprayer thing instead of out of it. If you don’t understand what I mean by that, try doing it with out any nozzle, see how not all of it comes out the sprayer well that’s what I mean.

Second Way

I’m not sure is this works but I think it will. I haven’t tried this yet but I can’t see why it won’t work. Doing this method will probably give you the best results possible with butane and it doesn’t take long to fill it up with gas which also helps and you won’t loose any butane while screwing the back cap on.

Materials
A can of butane for lighters
A cheap gay refillable lighter.

Process
Get your lighter and cut the valve out of it that you put your butane in. The refill valve. You know what valve I’m talking about right?

Next cut a small hole on top of your combustion chamber. This hole should be a bit bigger then the refill valve.

Now glue the valve into the hole with LOTS of glue. It must be really strong.

So now if all goes to plan when you’re ready to shoot just get your can and put it into the valve just like your refilling a lighter. But this time don’t press the gas on for as long.

What I want to happen is… your putting butane into the chamber just like your putting butane into a lighter. Now just take the can out and put it in your pocket or on the floor. All the butane will be in the potato gun, it will be sealed and you won’t loose any butane out the back when you’re trying to screw the back cap on because it will already be closed!

thats a pretty damn cool idea, but i personally reckon that butane is not the ideal fuel - it burns a bit too fast. I find the best being rid, or just lynx works well. However, if you did want to use butane, this is a kick ass idea. 5* coz its well written and nice pics.
