I spent a month in Israel recently, I got back about a week ago. One of the many places I visited was this old abandoned Jordanian Military Base. It was involved in one of the many battles that took place during the time Israel was gaining independance. Last time I posted this egg (and later deleted it) someone commented saying that I should have more respect for those who died here. I want to get this straight - I do not mean any disrespect for those who fought here by exploring it. I have utmost respect for all the soldiers who fought or died here, both Jordanian and Israeli.
So I’m not exactly sure where I was when I explored this place. It was some where in northern Israel, near the Jordan valley, but I dont know exactly where.
I was somewhere in or around the red circle.
The town was made up of 10 or so buildings, which I assume were barracks. Each building had 3 rooms, and one odd sort of storage area above one of the rooms. There was also one building which appeared to be a communal bathroom, and an outdoor communal sink. Here are a couple diagrams of the barracks buildings.

From the top
Exterior Pictures
All those little holes on the building are bullet holes. Everything was covered with bullet holes.
There were some stone structures, looked like ancient ruins. I have no fucking idea what they were, but I dont think they were from the times of the Military base.
I think that white writing says "armory"
Close up of some bullet holes
A few of my friends in one of the buildings
The communal sink and bathroom
Interior Pictures
Some old light switches and wires
More evidence of a battle
The wierd storage area I was talking about earlier on. The next picture shows what it looked like inside it, I took it by holding my camera up. I would have climbed up, but there was sharp stuff and I was wearing shorts and a short sleeve shirt.
Inside the bathroom
There was no furnitire or anything left here. All I could find was this old gate that was stuck in the ground.
Graffiti and my friend
It was pretty creepy being in the buildings, knowing people had fought and died at close range where I was standing.

Aug 01, 2006 8:45 pm - doesn’t really look like a military "base"...looks kinda like a bums house that got shot the fuck up. that’s really cool though. 5*s
Aug 01, 2006 8:48 pm - It was deffinately a base, not a traditional one, but deffinately a base. There were about 10-15 of the barracks buildings, but I guess its hard to tell that from the pictures.
Aug 01, 2006 10:06 pm - I’m not sure. I think I have material for like 2 more exploration eggs, but I’ll probably only do one. I could write a story egg about getting lost in the Muslim quarter of Jerusalem, but knowing people around here, it would get rated down because it would only have one picture or not be about bombs or something.
Aug 02, 2006 12:38 pm - Yes, I made this egg before, but I deleted it about an hour after I posted it because it was bad and was rated like 1.5 stars. This is the new version.
Aug 02, 2006 5:51 pm - Is that the latest hip version of the jew hats?
