This egg will explain to you 2 great ways of hiding things in your car. All of us will do it at least once when we get our license. We will be driving down the street and we pick up a friend and they hop in the car with a bag of weed. Its just your luck that you get pulled over the one time that you do such a thing.

My car is set up for racing and the stereo head unit that came in it was rather shitty. It would be easy for me to amplify the signal and put some nice speakers but its still going to be a shitty 2-channel head operating expensive speakers. So i just gutted the head unit idea. Most head units that come in vehicles as a stock item are shitty and have terrible radio reception and power output if the car is over 5 years old.

So i decided to remove the head unit. Most head units (stereo-box in the dash) are a DIN-removal setup and require a "special tool" to remove them. There is an outside clip faceplate (not hard to find) that clips onto the stereo face and covers up the DIN radio removal holes. Remove the faceplate and stick the tools into the holes. Using 4 small diameter hex head wrenches will do it. DIN head units are designed so that a special tool must push in 4 sensitive tabs at the same time while having the tools pushed towards the outside of the stereo while moving the stereo back. It is funny because most dealers and automotive shops dont have them, most of the tools produced are in the hands of car theifs and people who steal head units. Once the head unit is pulled out, there are groupings of wires on the back. There is one group of wires on a clip for the power positive, negative (ground) and ignition switches. The other one is for the speakers and it has the different speaker channels. Remove all of the wires including the radio antennae wire. Remove the stereo head but dont throw it away or scrap anything yet. Push the stereo wires in towards the back of the dash and try to keep them labeled so you can replace the headunit if you want to.

Now you can remove the actual faceplate that goes on the front of the stereo head unit. This usually just requires undoing a few clips around the faceplate and by removing the volume knob. When you pull the faceplate off, the buttons and tabs usually come with it as they are all on one big flat piece. If not than you will need to remove them and superglue them in place. The volume knob will usually just superglue in place and this faceplate will act as a "dummy" stereo. IT will look like a stereo except for the fact that a big hollow area is just behind it.

Many times, this dummy faceplate insert will just clip in place or stick in place. If not than you can just put a paperclip in through the DIN holes on one side so that they act as tabs to hold it in place. You need to bend the paper clip at each end so that it can be turned to hold it securely. This is only required in a very few number of stereo faceplates. Stereos are becoming less practical for car audio installation because an ipod can easily put out a multi-channel audio signal to an amplifier which reduces weight and possibility for stereo theft.

You can now hide things in your dash and push the dummy stereo faceplate in place so that it doesnt show anything. People often keep fireworks, guns, drugs, porn, and dead hookers in this secret stash hideout.

The other place to hide things is very easy to find. Open up the trunk of your car and look at the trunk wall. There should be a wall made out of a fairly thin plastic that fills the gap between the outside bodywork of the car and the inside trunk. Theres generally a fair amount of space between the trunk wall and the fender wall. Pulling down the trunk wall requires no tools and can be done just by bending and pulling it out of place with your hands. I was able to fit a backpack filled with beer bottles in the fender wall of my car. If somebody smashes into the rear fender of my car than beer will piss out of the rear wheel.

I hope that works for you and i hope my pictures work(i highly doubt it).
