In this egg, I will teach you how to make Potassium
Nitrate using common materials. Forget about using
tree stump removers, certain types of tooth paste
and all that other stuff. What you are about to learn is how to make pure Potassium Nitrate without
the fillers and bullshit! This is how it was made
back in the \\\\\\"old days\\\\\\".

Potassium Nitrate can be extracted from many natural
sources and can be used to make nitric acid, black
powder, and many pyrotechnics. The yield ranges from .1% to 10% by weight, depending on the fertility of the soil.

Materials List:

Nitrate bearing earth or other material, about
3-1/2 gallons (13-1/2 liters)
Source:
Soil containing old decayed vegetable or animal matter, Old cellars and/ or farm dirt floors.
Earth from old burial grounds, Decayed stone or mortar foundations, dryed animal or human feces.

Fine wood ashes, about 1/2 cup (1/8 liter)
Source:
Totally burned whitish wood ash powder or Totally
burned paper (black)

Bucket or similar container, about five (5) gallons
(19 liters) in volume.
Source:
Home, or Hardware Store.

Two(2) pieces of finely woven cloth, each slightly
larger than bottom of bucket.
Source:
Old tee shirt, towels, old rags.

Shallow pan or dish, at least as large as bottom of
bucket.
Source:
Home, or Hardware Store.

Shallow heat resistant container (ceramic, metal, ect.)
Source:
Home, or Hardware Store.

Water- about 1-3/4 gallons (6-3/4 liters)
Source:
Kitchen sink, outside faucet.

Awl, knife, screwdriver, electric drill with 5/16
drill bit.
Source:
Home, or Hardware Store.

Alcohol- about 1 gallon (4 liters)
Note: Any type of alcohol will work.
(whiskey, rubbing alcohol, ect.)
Source:
Home, Drug Store, Liquor Store.

Heat source-
Source:
Outside fire, electric hot plate, kitchen stove.

Filter paper- Coffee filters, paper bags, paper
towels.
Source;
Home, Grocery Store.

Tape to hold down filter paper, paper tape, duct
tape, ect.
Source:
Home, or Hardware Store.

Note: Only the ratios of the amounts of ingredients are important. For twice as much Potassium Nitrate, double quantities used.

Procedure:

1. Punch holes in bottom of bucket.

2. Spread one piece of cloth over holes inside of
bucket.

3. Place wood ashes on cloth and spread to make a
layer about the thickness of the cloth. Place
second piece of cloth on top of ashes.

4. Place dirt in bucket.

5. Place bucket over shallow container. Bucket may
be supported on wood dowels or sticks if needed.

6. Boil water.

7. pour water over earth in bucket a
little at a time. Allow water to run through
holes in bucket into shallow container.
Be sure water goes through all of the earth
Allow drained liquid to cool and settle for one
to two hours.

8. Carefully drain off liquid into heat resistant
container. Discard any sludge remaining in
bottom of shallow container.

9. Boil mixture over hot fire for at least two (2)
hours. Small grains of salt will begin to appear
in the solution. Scoop these out as they form,
using any type of improvised strainer. (I use
window screening folded to make a scooper)

10. When liquid has boiled down to approximately half
its original volume, remove from fire (heat)
and let sit. After thirty minutes add an equal
volume of alcohol.

11. When mixture is poured through paper, small white crystals will collect on top of it.

To purify the Potassium Nitrate, re-desolve the dry
crystals in the smallest possible amount of boiled
water. Remove any salt crystals that appear (step 7)
Pour through an improvised filter made from your filter material. Evaporate or gently heat the
concentrated solution to dryness.

Spread crystals on flat surface and allow to dry.
The Potassium Nitrate crystals are now ready for use. Enjoy!!!!

5* dude!

I remember reading an egg using a similar method years ago, but it didn’t have pictures and was hard to follow. Yours looks pretty easy to follow, and is very neat and nicely laid out with great pics. Good job man!

This is MY egg. It was on my old account. It got into the directory.
You’re a plagiarist. The information not taken from my egg was C/P’d from "The anarchist’s cookbook", and an article on Totse.

Sorry Tommyboy, My bad. I checked and rechecked the wording, and there’s no way you could have seen my egg before.
Looks like we have the same great ideas though, eh :P

I can’t believe you actually went and made potassium nitrate the old fashioned way. This is very impractical , but 5*s for pictures.

Good egg, lots of effort 5*

I don’t have to buy any chemicals or fuse or anything for making bombs because my dad does..he also has a license for buying class A fireworks ....I used to make quarter sticks of dynamite when i was like 10 or 11, but i don’t anymore because it just bores the hell out of me now.

You put in the effort and read a highschool chemistry not even maybe a general 8th grade science book or skimmed the pages. 2.
