Yeah, you can reinstall the OS. Depending on how old it is and the model, some have a partition with the original image and you can restore to new. However, I’ve found that in more than half of the cases in getting that error message it’s because the harddrive is failing.

I had this problem in the past and I fixed it by flicking this this little red tab with a screwdriver and it rebooted it working. The red tab was to the right of where you plug in the power wire for me. It may have been a fluke that it worked for me but it did so try it at your own risk.

NO DO NOT FLICK THE RED TAB,
It Changes the voltage that come ion and out of your Power supply in other words your computer will go BOOM!!

Yeah, I believe the red tab is to change it depending on the country you live in. Also, some countries use DC as opposed to the U.S. AC standard. Here’s an article with more info:

Download Windows XP and burn it onto a CD and then put it in the computer and restart it or turn it on/off. Or use the one you had on your old computer if you did.
