Today, street lighting commonly uses high-intensity discharge lamps, often HPS high pressure sodium lamps.
so in physics we learned street lamps contain a solid lump of sodium
just wonderign if its possible to obtain sodium from breaking in to a street lamp.
if you can get that high

it’s only a small amount. It is held in a vacuum, so it doesn’t react with anything. It would be really hard get it by breaking the lamp, you would have to saw it off or something.

Depending on the grade of sodium, it may or may not react violently with the moisture in the air.
