accidentally made (and ignited) thermite. I was using a bench grinder at work to modify a Stihl chainsaw frame. I think the frame is made of magnesium. I hadn’t cleaned the filings from previous grindings out from under/behind the grinder. I use it to grind all kinds of metals.

It was monotonous work until....
I noticed a small sparking flame on the pile of filings. Then it all erupted in a wave of molten metal from under the grinding wheel to the back of my work bench. I stood there watching it, thinking ’COOL! That burns like thermite!!’ Then I thought ’OMG!OMG!OMG! How the hell am I gonna put that out??’ When I started thinking about what I could do to keep from burning the whole shop down, it petered out. It was all over within 3 or 4 seconds. Cool as hell, though. I wasn’t ready for that.

What exciting things did you guys/girls do today?

I finally got a chance for extra credit to bring up my Ds in Geometry and Biology. I still have yet to get any in English, but we did like 3 huge projects and tests this week that were pretty easy.

Oh, and uh, the first outside read book for school I chose is actually pretty good. It’s called The Road. Reminds me of Fallout 3.

I went to school, slept through the AP classes I have A’s in, Paid attention in honors trig because I am horrible at math, argued about legalizing cannabis in health, met up with a girl after school, came home and slept. Tomorrow is PSAT’s for the underclassmen so I get to go to school and do nothing for three hours.

The chainsaw frame would have been made of magnalium. It’s an alloy of aluminium and magnesium. Stronger than magnesium, lighter and less malleable than aluminium. Different ratios give it different characteristics though. I made some 50/50 magnalium and you can snap pieces of it with your fingers. Hit it with a hammer and it completely shatters sort of like weak glass. Big with amateur pyro guys since it’s safer than magnesium, more reactive than aluminium and piss-fuck simple to powder. The main (if not only) purpose it serves in commercial fireworks is anything that crackles - dragon eggs.

Aaanyway, I’ll stop flopping my massive knowledge schlong around now. I worked today. There’s another dust storm (third in as many weeks) and it’s windy as wen ur eat beanz. I’m going to have a shower now then eat fish, chips and salad. Wish me luck

I started a new contract job today. This is a company I’ve never worked for before. The work is very easy, but the macros and templates they give me to work with made it rather complicated--that is pretty much always the case. It used to bother me but now I just grit my teeth and try to deal with it.

The problem is that most tran5criptionists don’t switch jobs as much as I do. I have worked for so many different places, and every time I get with a new place the person who trains me is usually someone who’s been with the company his/her entire career. They are usually really proud of all of their (what they think are) labor- and time-saving macros and templates. What they don’t realize--and never realize, if I’m lucky--is that whatever it is they are using just about always seems really hokey to me and usually are time-WASTERS because I have to unlearn whatever crap I learned in the last job so that I can learn all the stuff they want me to do in the current job. (NOTE: This current job is actually not so bad; the lady is very smart and actually could explain the technical aspects of their procedures to me without referring me to some dumbass tech person who is just reading answers from the first page of the company’s tech help site... that’s usually not the case. I’ve had tech guys totally blow up at me before, and start swearing and everything. Good times!)

The actual work part of it is always the same, however: Listening to a doctor dictate medical reports, and transcribing them. Sometimes I think if I could only just do that and not have to go through all that complicated bullshit... oh well, no job is perfect. I mean, at least I HAVE a fucking job. I like what I do for a living, too; the type of skill that I have for this work is extremely rare and getting rarer by the day.

You should see the town where I live. It’s like in a zombie movie or something. Every day it seems like another house goes up for sale, and meanwhile all the ones that were up for sale months/years ago are still sitting there empty. (If you want to buy a cheap house or ranch, just let me know, man! I will totally set you up. There are five-acre ranches with modern houses on them going for $25,000 USD around here.)

I figure that at this rate, this town’s going to empty out within the next two years. (That doesn’t particularly bother me, in case you are wondering. I like abandoned and desolate areas.)

Another one of my micro fiction stories is going to be on the "just a little fiction" website on Oct 16. It’s no money, but I’ll note that they DO offer cash prizes in their writing contests that they have on that site. The site has fewer than 70 members at this point, so even if your writing sucks you have somewhat of a chance of winning something.

I just canceled my flight that I was going on to visit a friend of mine for his 21st birthday. :( It’s just not a good time for either one of us. I’ll just reschedule it later on. I lost part of my $$$ for my ticket for canceling but oh well.

Tomorrow a friend is going to come pick me up so I can run some errands, because I have not had the flat fixed on my bike yet--the local mech who said he would fix it has been backed up and anyway I didn’t have enough money to pay him until yesterday. (Motorcycle tires are more expensive than car tires.)

Also I’m going to buy some weed. :)

I’m going to spend the next couple of hours working on my novel and maybe watch another episode of CSI.

That’s about it.

Oh yeah: I downloaded some ebooks. I wanted to read Dean Koontz’s Intensity again and I gave my copy to this stupid chick several years ago, she never gave it back. xoxoxo

I havent went to school in 3 weeks so i have a loot of catching up to do..Instead i slept/texted/and ate slim jims and mountain through blocks 1 2 and 3. Then 4th block (small engines) we tore apart a customers mower because he was complaining about an "annoying ticking noise" to find the connecting rod cracked almost all the way through.
Thennn i watched a planned fight behind a nearby gas station..now i am at home enjoying this easy-mac seeing as though its wet and dreary outside.

Those were today for us, and since I had a fever I couldn’t go. And since it’s practice, I have the option of doing retakes or not. I’m not going to.

I finished The Road today, and started my 1000 word essay for English. I have to babysit tomorrow for my sister, all the while finishing my essay and Biology project.
