I am having kind of a hard time posting this topic but I believe that it needs to be posted. 4 days ago my 19 year old brother Steven killed himself. I found him hanging in the garage at around 9pm. We are still pretty unsure of his reasoning behind his suicide but we are trying to put together the pieces. Unfortunately he did not leave a note which is making it very difficult. The one thing that he left was the words ’My Soul Rises Through, I’ll Watch Through The Cracks’ which he wrote on the ceiling above him. I know that a lot of you may not know or remember him but he has been a member of RE for a very long time. He was actually the one who introduced me to this site, which I am very grateful for. He is loved and will be missed by many people. He was an amazing guitarist and was good at anything that he put his mind too. Again, I know this topic may not matter to many of you but for those that do actually remember him I think they would appreciate this.

Did you cut him down, or leave him hanging for a while till the cops showed up?

Well...
Me and him just finished watching south park. Then he went out into the garage. About 20 minutes later I went out into the garage to chill with him. I opened the garage door, the door bumped into his body which was hanging. At first I thought that he was joking around but when I realized that he wasn’t I ran into the house screaming. My dad woke up and ran into the garage. He cut him down, layed him on the ground and started giving him cpr. Unfortunately it was too late. I called 911 immediately and they arrived within a couple of miinutes. They worked on him for awhile but again, it was too late. We had a candlelight memorial service at our house 2 nights ago. There was over 100 people, maybe half of them I didn’t even know. There really were a lot of people that cared about him.
Its just too bad that he never opened up to anyone about his problems.

That sucks bro.
My uncle killed himself last October, I think. He never left a note but was obviously depressed for the past months before. Other than that, he had no reason to kill himself but there were other suspicious things laying around the house, for instance: He had a note in his laptop on how to access his personal files, like bank account information and such. He had a large amount of chlorine tablets in the back of his car too.
But yeah, Here’s something you may find interesting. It’s my cousin, and the story of how his father (my uncle) killed himself and his team’s support.

I’m sorry man. I didn’t know him and I don’t know you but I know the situation. My girlfriend killed herself a few months back and I know that kind of shit is hard to get through.
Make sure you talk it out though. Don’t be like your brother and keep your feelings inside. I wouldn’t suggest a counselor as, in my opinion, they are all dumbasses. Maybe a close friend or other relative.
Also, here is something you may not be thinking about: Be very careful with what you say and who you say it to. Anything that makes you sound even mildly depressed or can be interpreted as suicidal can get you sent to a psychologist or get you put on suicide watch. This is what nearly happened to me and, unless you too are suicidal (it doesn’t sound like you are), it is the last thing you want to have happen.

I can’t imagine something much worse than finding a sibling like that just minutes after you were together doing something. Sorry to hear it and I hope everyone involved is doing alright.

Same Moose. I just feel that by the time I do die, even though I won’t be able to do anything about it, I know there’s going to have been so much I wanted to accomplish that I never did or there will be plenty of things that I never got to do.
Back to the topic at hand man, I’m really sorry to hear about your loss. May he Rest In Peace. My little brother is still in Elementary School by now but even once he gets older, I can’t even think about how I’d react if I heard that he did something similar to your brother.

I like what CleanseTheDoor said. I really cannot imagine how much you are probably going through right now, but one thing I know that can help, is to have the people supporting you through this. Also I believe you should hold yourself from activities for a few days that you find to be stressful. Meditation is also good for you.
I guess all I can say is, I hope you will be okay! This shouldnt last forever, and soon you will be happy again. My sympathy and wishes go out to you and your family.
